Shaw Scholarship

The scholarship fund was established June 5, 1988 in memory of Suzanne Elaine Shaw.  The fund’s purpose is the income from the fund is used by First United Methodist Church, Clinton (beginning 2010) for students pursuing degrees in the medical profession or full time Christian vocations.   One communion offering each year is added to the principal of the fund.  Only the interest is used for funding each year’s awards.  Epworth United Methodist Church awarded the scholarship for 1988 to 2009 then the responsibility was transferred to First United Methodist Church of Clinton.

The Shaw Scholarship will be offered first to members of FUMC or children of members of FUMC and then to others who are active in the programs of FUMC. The scholarship will be awarded on or about August 1 of each year. You may make a memorial donation to this fund at any time by designating Shaw Scholarship on your check. Monies left at the altar on June 5th communion Sunday will be designated to this fund.

College Trip to Houston

The College Ministry will be taking a trip to Houston, TX to work with Aid Sudan March 11th-14th. Aid Sudan is an organization that works with Sudanese refugees living in the city as well as those the Sudanese people in Africa. We will be organizing and running backyard bible clubs and helping with Sudanese churches in the area. Contact Casey for more information, casey@fumcclinton.org or call 601.924.6671

College Retreat

On the weekend of January 14th-16th, the college ministry group will be going on a winter retreat in Guntersville, Alabama.  Justin Nails of Lakeview Church in Chicago, will be the speaker.

College Trip to Georgia

On August 5-8th the College Ministry will be taking a trip to Georgia. Discussion will emphasize next year’s studies and what direction we will be heading in as a College Ministry. We will be going to Six Flags and tubing down a river! Please contact Casey Combest if you would like to go, or if you would like more information.

Africa Mission Trip

Casey Combest is leading a group on a mission trip to Africa from May 11-24. They will take a team of college students to help an organization called “Courage to Be You” with an area of Africa where many children are in need of outreach. Please pray for this group as they raise funds and prepare for this trip. If you can help them financially, please contact Casey at 601.924.6671 or send a contribution to the church.
