A special message from Associate Pastor Clint Ware:

Let me tell you about a terrific local mission opportunity we have at FUMC Clinton. Over the past few months I have been coordinating with the Methodist Children’s Home and fifteen other Methodist churches in the Jackson Metro area to help renovate one of the old halls on the property located on the corner of Flag Chapel and Northside Drive.

Until recently this property was the Baptist Children’s Village. MCH bought the property with a vision to provide a home environment for young people who, for various reasons, do not have families to care for them. Many of these children have lived hard lives under unimaginable circumstances before coming into the care of MCH. For this reason our goal is to provide a nice, warm, homelike environment for these girls and the many girls who will live in this home for years to come. Already there are two halls housing up to twenty-two girls on the campus. There are many other buildings that will be used on the campus but they need to be renovated and updated to make them usable. The one we will be working on is Gaddis Hall. This building will eventually house eight girls and two house moms.
In renovating Gaddis Hall we will be putting in new flooring, paint, and generally updating the decor. This will mean plenty of volunteers will be needed as the project moves forward. There is also a large need for furniture. Fortunately, Miskelly Furniture has generously offered to give a wonderful discount on all the furniture for the house.

Various Methodist Churches around the Jackson Area have already committed to help make this happen. I hope that we as a church family will also step up and do what we can. Our missions committee has already committed to pay for the new flooring. In the coming weeks we will be asking Sunday School classes, Life Groups, Men’s groups, Women’s Groups, and even individuals to consider how they can take part in this awesome local mission opportunity.
