Sent To Be a Blessing
We began sending teams in 1999, and are excited about the progress that has been made as we have worked to help construct buildings, participated in worship services, and provided a Vacation Bible School ministry for local children.
Over 300 people of every age group have participated in the mission trips that our church sends to Costa Rica. Many lives have been changed for the better as a result. Those who travel there are changed not only because it is a blessing to help, but also because it’s a fulfillment of what Jesus commands us to do in Galatians 6:10: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
The congregation at Fuente de Gracias (Fountain of Grace) Methodist Church are blessed financially and materially while we are there, but more importantly, there is a true bond of love and friendship between our two churches that will extend into not only future years, but into eternity.
About Liberia
Fuente de Gracias is the center of a ministry to the city of Liberia, Costa Rica, and the surrounding community. Liberia is located the province of Guanacaste, one of the oldest cities in Costa Rica and has traditionally been a market city. The province is home to many cattle ranches and the city is the site of many cultural celebrations.
The church is operated by Pastor Carlos Gonzales, with the help of additional local pastors. Their congregation has several hundred members, and ministers to the needs of area residents.
Growing from a small home church in 1999, there are now several buildings, including a parsonage, classrooms, dormitories, a kitchen, a small sanctuary and the newest building; a two-story auditorium with room for several thousand worshippers. First United Methodist of Clinton has been instrumental in building them, both by financial contributions and by the sweat and muscle power of the work teams that have participated in the missions over the years.
You Can Help
Your help is critical to us as we go back to Costa Rica this year. We need your support financially and spiritually to successfully meet the challenges of our trip. We are counting on you to provide us with the covering of prayer primarily, and also for financial assistance. We believe God will lead you to the area in which he wants you to help us with this trip, and that he will reward you for your faithfulness.
