How is it with
your soul?
What do you look for in your life as an indicator that you are doing well in your relationship with God?
Blessings?
Prosperity?
Joy?
Blessings – when good things happen
Prosperity – financial and material gain
Joy – being happy all the time
Blessings?
II Corinthians 12:7-9
7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. ” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
“Blessings” by Laura Story
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
Prosperity?
II Corinthians 8:1-5
And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. 2 Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3 For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4 they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. 5 And they did not do as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God’s will.
Joy?
James 1:2-4
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
John 16:33
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
“you will be scattered, each to his own home”
“you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices”
“they will put you out of the synagogue”
“anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God”
In this world you will have trouble!
so that in me you may have peace
so that in me you may have peace
How is it with
your soul?
I have peace
in Him.
