Scoutmaster, Troop 88
Dear Parent,
Welcome to the Boy Scouts of America!  You are helping your son embark on the great adventure of scouting.  This is an exciting and rewarding time in his life that you will be able to share with him.
What is it all about?  What will you be expected to do?  How much does it cost?  I have prepared this booklet to help answer your questions.
The most important item I can stress is this—Scouts receive the most benefit from the program when their parents are involved.  Get involved in your son’s scout career!  It is fun and exciting.
There are three aims of scouting:
            Character building
            Citizenship training
            Personal fitness
We accomplish these goals with an outdoor program—camping out with friends, hiking scenic trails, building campfires, shooting rapids, climbing rock faces, and many other things.
So welcome to the adventure!  We are glad to have you along as you help your son reach his goals, build his character, and become a leader!
Sincerely,
Kevin
