I Put My Trust…

Have you recently discovered God’s giftedness in you?  Have you been able to see how God can use you to further God’s ministry in the church/world?  God delights when seeing his people serving by using their gifts.  Psalm 35:27 reveals the Lord’s attitude concerning the prosperity of His servants, “Let them shout for joy and rejoice who favor my vindication; and let them say continually, ‘The Lord be magnified, who delights in the prosperity of His servants.’”  Let me paraphrase that last sentence, “God gets really happy when His children thrive and make use of their gifts!”

Author and speaker John Maxwell once defined stewardship as “the successful management of God-given resources for the glory of God and the good of men.”  Paul writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to the newly converted Christians at Corinth, forthrightly shares with his fellow believers what their supreme role is as witnesses for Christ in this world.

Let man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy (faithful).

I Corinthians 4:1-2

Over the next three weeks we will be reflecting upon the gifts we have either received or the new gifts that have been revealed through our Spirit Gifts study and we will be asking you to complete the following sentence, “I put my trust…” Where do you put your trust?  If you have been entrusted with the gifts of God, how are you using them to His glory?  Who really is in charge of your life?
